Our VIMEO PRO account recently expired.
I would like to know if any filmmakers would be interested in hosting their film on FUSA FILMS’ Vimeo Pro account for the 2025-2026 period.
Many filmmakers and producers who trust us regularly ask if we use Vimeo, but we must also consider the cost associated with this solution (€240 per year including tax).
Your film could be included in a Vimeo Pro screener for our festival submissions, platforms, viewers, and industry contacts.
Here’s why this solution is much better suited than our current system via YouTube:
1. Optimal Security and Privacy
- Password protection and private, unlisted link that is not indexed, unlike YouTube where an unlisted link can still be easily shared and viewed if reposted elsewhere.
- “Domain-level privacy” option: viewing is only possible on approved sites (for example, our distribution website or a private portal), preventing unwanted viewing.
- No ads or distracting suggestions before, during, or after the video, avoiding distractions or competitors appearing at the end.
- Secure streaming with better anti-download protection, whereas YouTube is more vulnerable to capture.
- Credibility with festivals.
2. Superior Technical Quality
- Better video compression: Vimeo preserves image details and colors better, especially in 4K and low light (important for genre films, dark scenes, fine textures).
- Native multichannel audio support (5.1), perfectly played in the Vimeo player, whereas YouTube often degrades spatial sound.
- No excessive recompression: YouTube applies heavy compression that can alter the film’s appearance, which can be critical for test screenings or festival screeners.
- Smooth playback on all platforms (computers, tablets, smartphones, Apple TV, Roku, etc.) with automatic adaptive settings.
3. Flexibility and Control
- File replacement without changing the link: you can update a film (new version, subtitles, corrections) without sending a new link each time.
- Multiple versions (French subtitles, original version, festival version, short version) hosted in the same space, with the ability to manage access separately.
- Customizable player: integration of your poster, colors, logo for a more professional look than the standard YouTube player.
- Ability to restrict downloads to certain people only (e.g., jury members or buyers).
4. Professional Distribution Tool
- Built-in VOD: possibility to rent or sell the film directly from FUSA FILMS’ Vimeo on demand page, with secure online payment and full film sheet (poster, synopsis, trailer).
- Professional access for platforms: VOD, TV, or distributor partners are used to working with Vimeo for screenings, reinforcing credibility.
- Polished presentation page: a single URL can gather the film, visuals, trailer, and contact information.
5. Precise Tracking and Data Use
- Detailed statistics: we know exactly who watched, for how long, on which date, and from which country.
- Downloadable reports for your press kits, festival summaries, or financing dossiers.
- Engagement tracking: we can identify if a selection committee watched the entire film or stopped halfway.
Ideally, the cost of the Pro plan (€20 per month) would be shared among all participating filmmakers to reduce individual expenses.
For reference, the annual subscription is €240 (€192 before taxes and other fees). Divided among the current 6 filmmakers, that represents about €32 per person per year (to be adjusted depending on the actual number of participants).
